We were all thrilled when we saw more black superhero movies and shows pop up recently. It’s about time they got the leading roles they deserved. We loved the Luke Cage series on Netflix, everyone went mad for Black Panther and Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse was such a massive hit we still can’t shut up about it. You’d think this means we’ll be seeing more and more black superheroes in leading roles, wouldn’t you? But it doesn’t look like it just yet. Luke Cage was dropped by Netflix along with Jessica Jones and Daredevil and we haven’t seen any new teasers apart from Into the Spider-Verse and Black Panther getting sequels at some point in 2022. This is just a tad ridiculous considering how many cool black comic book superheroes are out there. So here’s a list of black superheroes who deserve their own movies and shows.
1. Nick Fury
He might not have literal superpowers but who cares, he’s a superhero in our eyes. Nick Fury played by Samuel L.Jackson is definitely someone we’d like to see more. A spin-off show just about what kind of badass things Nick Fury gets up to would be absolutely amazing, thank you very much. But Samuel L. Jackson is probably way too busy and way too cool for a series, so a full-on movie would be even better. Just imagine that movie, it would be 50% sass 50% badass.
2. Storm
Remember Storm from X-men? Yeah, we’d like her to have her own spin-off. A mutant black lady who can control the weather? Can you imagine the comic possibilities? But also, she’s just a cool character we’d like to see at the forefront of the show or a movie. They’ve made so many Wolverine movies, can we have some Storm now?
